Volunteers for Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute, Takdah, Darjeeling




Chagpori was a monastic medical institute in Lhasa with a 400-year old tradition when it was destroyed during the Chinese cultural revolution. In 1992, Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute has been established near Darjeeling by the late Dr. Trogawa Rinpoche in commemoration of the old Chagpori. At the moment, the 4th and 5th intake of students are studying at CTMI. CTMI is registered as medical college at the Central Council of Tibetan Medicine of the Tibetan Exile Government at Dharamsala.

On behalf of Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute in Takdah, Darjeeling, India, we are looking for volunteers to teach anatomy and / or physiology in English to the students of Chagpori Tibetan Medical Institute. Either individuals or teams of two can apply.

Requirements:
The following qualifications are required:

Seasonal Timing:
Your assignment in 2010 could be for two or three months during the following months

Teaching levels:
Two levels of courses are required for two different levels of student's background, beginners (little knowledge of anatomy) and intermediate (basic knowledge of anatomy). The volunteers will prepare their lessons themselves according to the needs and capacity of the students. You should be able to teach one 45-minutes lesson of alternate teaching level from Monday to Friday. Together with the preparation and documentation this is a work-load of 2-4 hours every day.
